Terrence Cuddy

Terry Cuddy is a media artist whose work has ranged from a play he wrote about a maintenance worker who has a dilemma changing a light bulb to a video installation about player pianos. In 2002, he produced a video titled Transient View of Western New York. He worked with nine poets in UB's Poetics Program whose origins range from as far away as Korea and Portugal to as close as Philadelphia. Each poet brought her/his "outside" experience to Buffalo.

Exhibitions: Carnegie Art Center; Big Orbit Gallery (Buffalo); The Toronto International Video Art Biennial; Squeaky Wheel; Rat Powered Film Festival (CA); Art in General; Pyramid Art Gallery (Rochester). Presently teaches at Cayuga Community College. www.terrycuddy.com

    Ralph Hocking offers an artist statement for a computer-based installation slated for fall 1999; his listed installation works are Jump, diggit and Running, and he links the project to prior study in pottery. The work uses four to nine monitors, each driven by its own Amiga with one video and two audio outputs and a serial link to a master referee computer; the Amiga provides four oscillators and image and sound sampling, and imagery is altered by digital processing techniques including convolving, bit swapping and field manipulation, producing three-dimensional illusions.
