Victoria Mills

Victoria Mills is a full-time practicing psychoanalyst and documentary filmmaker. The award-winning documentary, MOTHERS AND DAUGHTERS: MIRRORS THAT BIND was her first film. Victoria leads workshops with universities, national women's organizations, and grass-roots community groups for the film, and continues to be involved in outreach to these communities.

She is a training analyst and on the faculty of National Psychological Association for Psychoanalysis, and supervises graduate and PhD students at several universities. In her many years as an analyst, Victoria has worked extensively with people of different cultures who have experienced trauma, including those who suffered from the disaster of 9/11.

    Laura Kissel is a media artist working in film and the electronic and digital arts; she is cofounder of the Orphan Film Symposium and an associate professor of media arts at the University of South Carolina. Her documentary work explores social and political issues around landscape and land use, representation of place and history, and orphan films; she is in preproduction on a documentary about media representations of disability, eugenics, and the struggle for disability civil rights; she graduated in 1991 from Ithaca College's Department of Cinema and Photography.

    Melinda Barlow is Associate Professor at the University of Colorado at Boulder; she joined CU in 1996 after teaching at New York University, the School of Visual Arts, and Queens College, City University of New York. She edited Mary Lucier: Art and Performance (2000, Johns Hopkins University Press) and is a film and video historian specializing in contemporary independent women film and videomakers; her articles have appeared in journals including Camera Obscura and Art Journal. She received the Lyn Blumenthal Memorial Award and a CU Center for the Humanities and the Arts Fellowship in 2005; she founded the Leah Kelly Memorial Award and has a forthcoming book, Lost Objects of Desire (University of Minnesota Press).
