Abstract

This publication accompanies the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles exhibition Visual Music. Visual Music features ninety major works of art plus related documentation, focusing on abstract and mixed-media art forms and their connections to musical forms as varied as classical, jazz and electronica. This book includes an introduction by Jeremy Strick; three scholarly essays, an additional essay by Olivia Mattis, a chronology, artist biographies, and a selected bibliography. Organized by Kerry Brougher, Jeremy Strick, Ari Wiseman and Judith Zilczer.
