New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) receives National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) matching funds for the "Bicentennial Film Project," providing funds for films on the arts and cultural life of New York State.

Projects included Ken Burns's "Brooklyn Bridge," Barbara Kopple's "Harlan County, U.S.A.," and Claudia Weill's "Girlfriends."
