Christina McPhee

Born in Los Angeles, Christina McPhee studied literature and art history at Scripps college, Claremont; and painting at Kansas City Art Institute (BFA) and Boston university (MFA), as a student of Philip Guston. In new media and installation, her work involves time and memory within technological landscapes where painterly, architectural and technological mesh within an atmosphere of chiarascuro and baroque complexity. Christina McPhee (US) is a multimedia artist working with landscapes of scientific visualization and cinematic image through a performance based use of video, installation, digital photography, database net art and drawing.

Based in California, she is currently working at the margins of cities investigating the seismic landscape, and the aftermath of debris flow, in the wake of global warming. Upcoming exhibitions in 2006 will include a solo installation, "La Conchita mon amour,' at Sara Tecchia New York in October; and, at Cartes Centre for Art and Technology, Espoo, Finland, a five year retrospective of her work will be on from May to September. In 2005, a solo exhibition at Bildmuseet, Umea, Sweden, followed participation in Groundworks: Environmental Collaboration and Contemporary Art at Carnegie Mellon University, Regina Goucher Gallery, and two exhibitions in San Francisco and LA.

She has worked in the Residency Program at the Experimental Television Center. Her performances and net art have been part of many new media festivals since 2001 including Cybersonica at the ICA London (2002), FILE 2002 Sao Paulo, Digital Arts and Culture Melbourne (2003), and is online in the Whitney Museum of American Art artport, ctheorymultimedia at Cornell University Electronic Media Archives, and chairetmetal (Montreal). www.christinamcphee.net www.naxsmash.net

  • Suzanne Goldenberg People

    Suzanne Goldenberg holds a BA from Mc Gill University and an MFA from Maryland Institute College of Art; she is presently working on the production and design for a quarterly online contemporary arts journal and at Harvestworks. Her exhibitions have included the Great Hall of Art (NY), Kibla Media Center (Slovenia), Gallery Remont (Yugoslovia), MaMa Media Center (Croatia), Jeleni Gallery (Czech Republic) and galleries in NY and Baltimore. She received a Gottleib Foundation Artist Grant (2003) and support from the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council (2003).

  • Nadia Hironaka People

    Nadia Hironaka holds an MFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (1999) and a BFA from The University of the Arts (1997); her video and film work has been exhibited and screened at venues and festivals including the 14th Philadelphia Film Festival (April 7–20, 2005), Rencontres internationales Paris/Berlin (2004) and Surface Tension at The Fabric Workshop and Museum (2003). She received awards and support including a 2004 Director's Choice at Black Maria, SOS and Leeway Foundation grants, and was Artist in Residence at FABRICA (2001). She has worked as Video Archivist at The Fabric Workshop and Museum (2000–present), taught video workshops and delivered lectures and juries.

  • Katarina Jerinic and Naomi Miller People

    BA, American University; MFA, School of Visual Arts. Jerinic has recently exhibited work at Mills Gallery in the Boston Center for the Arts, the California Museum of Phorography, Visual Arts Gallery (NY) and the Bronx River Art Center.

  • Cynthia Lovett People

    Cynthia Lovett received an MPS from the Tisch School of the Arts - Interactive Telecommunications Program at New York University (2001) and an MFA from Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia (1996); she participated in residencies including the PS1 International Studio Program and the Harvestworks New Works Residency (1998). She has exhibited video and installation works at The Sculpture Center, Brooklyn Museum of Art, Momenta Art (Brooklyn), and the Galleries at Moore College of Art in Philadelphia; she was a Lower Manhattan Cultural Council Swing Space Artist and an artist in residence at the Rotunda Gallery/BCAT Multimedia Residency (2005-06) and the Experimental Television Center (2006).
