David Stout

David Stout is an artist, director, composer and performer. His work in interactive media and expanded cinematic forms include video-dance, analog image-sound synthesis, experimental narrative, video installation, electro-acoustic scores for stage and screen, telematic and interactive video performance, algorithmic animation, networked recursive systems and large scale immersive events that emphasize multi-screen film/video projection as an extension of performer, audience and environment. He is the recent recipient of the Harvestworks Interactive Technology Award (2004) and a nominee for both the WTN World Technology Award (2003) and the International Media Art Prize (2004).

David is an Associate Professor in the Department of Moving Image Arts at the College of Santa Fe. He holds an Inter-Arts MFA (1985) in Film/Video and Music from the California Institute of the Arts where he studied with Ed Emshwiller, Joan LaBarbara, Jim Pomeroy, Michael Scroggins and Bill Viola. His award winning video works, sound scores, and inter-media performances have been presented at international festivals throughout the USA, Europe and Japan.

He currently directs (I.P.I.) the Installation, Performance & Interactivity project at the College of Santa Fe in Santa Fe, New Mexico. http://www.i2o.org/.

His work has been exhibited at P.S.1/MoMA, New Museum and KW Institute; he holds an M.F.A. (California Institute of the Arts, 1996) and a B.S. (University of Wisconsin-Madison, 1988).

    David Weinstein is a composer and multimedia artist whose musical and site-specific installation works have been shown worldwide; his musical practice juxtaposes sound effects, traditional and non traditional instruments, synthetic sound, ancient and exotic tunings, and noise. As a keyboardist he has recorded and performed with Shelley Hirsch, Elliott Sharp, John Zorn, Ned Rothenberg and Rhys Chatham; his theatrical, installation and multimedia pieces have received grants and awards. He participated in a long collaboration with the live video performance group The Poool and works with Doris Vila on animated, multi-user, multi-screen responsive environment installations cited at Prix Ars Electronica 2002.

  • David Hindman People

    New York-based interactive artist and designer David Hindman will develop an interactive musical performance piece using custom designed hardware and software; described as The Public Instrument-Controlled Video Game Competition, the work incorporates new music, software, and musical gaming interfaces and will be performed in November 2009 at The Annex (NYC) and in December 2009 at The Tank (NYC). Hindman is a regular contributor to the New Instruments for Musical Expression Conference (NIME), appeared as a guest speaker at the 2007 O'Reilly Emerging Technology Conference in San Diego, is a graduate of NYU's ITP program, and maintains the website http://www.davidhindman.com/.

  • David Dunn People

    David Dunn is a composer and sound artist working across traditional and experimental music, installations, film and video soundtracks, radio and bioacoustic research; his compositions and wildlife recordings have been presented internationally. From 1970-74 he assisted Harry Partch and performed with the Harry Partch Ensemble for over a decade; he has lectured internationally and consulted for media studios including Disney and MGM. He has held academic posts including professor at the College of Santa Fe, was artist-in-residence at the University of New Mexico (2002-2004), authored books and a CD-ROM, received NEA and Rockefeller grants and the 2005 Alpert Award for Music, and researches sonification and bioacoustics.
