Federico Muelas

Federico Muelas is a new media artist living and working in New York. He was born in Madrid, Spain where he obtained his undergraduate degree in fine arts. In 1998 He founded d2ec creative group developing artistic and commercial projects for companies and individuals. In 1999 he was granted with a scholarship to study an MFA in Computer arts at the School of visual arts, where he specialized in computer aided installations. Having a formation both in academic fine arts and in new media technology his work ranges from audiovisual pieces to highly complex installations incorporating sensors and microcontrollers.

From 1997 to the present his awarded work has been exhibited throughout Europe, United States, Scandinavia, Asia and South America, having been recently awarded with a prestigious grant from the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) in Computer Arts and with the Third Prize at Life 7.0 International New Media Art competition. Federico Muelas is also a New Media Art teacher at School of Visual Arts and Eyebeam Atelier.

His installation, photography, and video work has been shown internationally; he completed the installation Stadium in 1990.

His exhibitions and performances include Untitled (Breach) at The Pond, San Francisco (11/01), interstice at 3 Walls, San Antonio (10/01) and Horizons at Blue Star 13, San Antonio (07/98); he attended DEAF and Machine Times and maintains a portfolio at www.auraloptic.com.

    Siebren Versteeg is a media artists living and working in Brooklyn, NY; he has exhibited worldwide and is represented by the Max Protech Gallery in New York. He develops a new language for digital media, transforming computer art into conceptually based works that integrate live, real-time information from television and internet sources and combine popular culture with film, photography and painting; his work examines information availability and proliferation from the associated press to online diaries to live television.
