John Pruitt holds an A.B. from Dartmouth College and an M.A. from New York University; he is a writer and lecturer on filmmaking and film history. He taught at Queens College, Cooper Union, Princeton University, and the Collective for Living Cinema; he served as associate editor of Downtown Review from 1978 to 1981. He has published articles on film, video, and poetry and coedited Ten Years of Living Cinema (1982); since 1981 he has been Associate Professor of Film at Bard.
