Kabir Carter

Kabir Carter has studied electroacoustic composition at Bard College. Works include live, interactive sound works realized as public art, and live installation/performance. His compositions, performances, and sound installations have been presented at Diapason, Atlantic Center for the Arts, Creative Time, Dorsch Gallery, PS122 Gallery, d.u.m.b.o. arts center, and in public presentations throughout New York City. On-line projects at Rhizome.org, and www.livejournal.com/~effects/.

He continues to realize Walking in the City, a net art project first commissioned by the Miami-based music festival Subtropics. Kabir has been an artist-in-residence at LMCC/Workspace: 120 Broadway and is currently a guest composer in Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute's Create @ iEAR residency.     Wojciech Kosma, born 1981 in Poland, is a sound artist and freelance programmer who graduated from Sonic Arts at Middlesex University London; he develops audiovisual performances, interactive software art, experimental film and music and uses computer coding as composing. His works were commissioned by the British Council (with Carey Young), Polish National Television (with A. Gryka and M.Iwata), Uwaga Festival and Unsound Festival; he has performed and exhibited at Projet Itinerant (Argentina/France), Cybersonica 06 (UK), Sonorities (UK), Trafo Gallery (Hungary), Expodium (Holland), Audio Art (Poland), Uwaga Festival (Germany) and ICA (UK). He was a guest lecturer at Bauhaus University in Weimar, received a mention at the Projet Itinerant Competition Point de Repere, works for The People Speak, and audiovisual documentation is available at www.wojciechkosma.art.pl.

  • Ron Kuivila People

    Ron Kuivila is an artist and composer who pioneered the use of ultrasound and sound sampling in live performance; his recent work explores compositional algorithms, speech synthesis and high voltage phenomena. He has collaborated with composers, artists and choreographers and has performed and exhibited installations and concerts throughout the U.S., Canada and Europe. He studied with Alvin Lucier at Wesleyan and with Robert Ashley and David Behrman at Mills College; he was an NEA Fellow at Creative Associates, artist-in-residence at Media Study/Buffalo (1979-80), a 1980 CAPS recipient, and is a Professor of Musicology at Wesleyan who curated Rock's Role (After Ryoanji) at Art in General in 2004.

Composition 2005 No. 1 was shown at Diapason and is slated for a Diapason DVD; he received a 2006 Finishing Funds grant from the Experimental Television Center/NYSCA for lgOpre and enhanced it at STEIM in 2007. His work has been exhibited at P.S.1/MoMA, New Museum and KW Institute; he holds an M.F.A. (California Institute of the Arts, 1996) and a B.S. (University of Wisconsin-Madison, 1988).
