Wojciech Kosma

Wojciech Kosma, born 1981 in Poland. Graduated from Sonic Arts, Middlesex University London. Sound artist and freelance programmer. Kosma has developed and created various projects from audiovisual performances and interactive software art to experimental film and music. In his works he challenges music as a medium.

He improvises with the technology. He uses computer coding as composing. He connects contemporary music with new media. Kosma's works were commissioned by British Council (with Carey Young), Polish National Television (with A. Gryka and M.Iwata), Uwaga Festival, Unsound Festival.

He was performing and exhibiting in "Projet Itinerant" Argentina/France, "Cybersonica 06" UK, "Sonorities" UK, "Trafo Gallery" Hungary, "Expodium" Holland, "Audio Art" Poland, "Uwaga Festival" Germany, "ICA" UK. Guest lecturer on Bauhaus University in Weimar. Awarded mention at the Projet Itinerant Competition "Point de Repere". Works for "The People Speak".     Andreas Broeckmann lives and works in Berlin and has been Artistic Director of transmediale festival for art and digital culture berlin since autumn 2000; the festival attracts 35,000 visitors and presents and discusses media art in Europe. The festival has emphasised debates and developments in media art, including electronic music, software art and locative media. Broeckmann studied art history, sociology and media studies in Germany and Britain, worked as project manager at V2_Organisation Rotterdam, Institute for the Unstable Media from 1995—2000, co-maintains the Spectre mailing list and is a member of mikro and of the European Cultural Backbone; he teaches on media art, digital culture and an aesthetics of the machinic.

    Kabir Carter studied electroacoustic composition at Bard College and produces live, interactive sound works, live installations/performances and sound installations; his works have been presented at Diapason, Atlantic Center for the Arts, Creative Time, Dorsch Gallery, PS122 Gallery, d.u.m.b.o. arts center and in public presentations throughout New York City. He has online projects at Rhizome.org and LiveJournal and continues to realize Walking in the City, a net art project first commissioned by the Miami-based music festival Subtropics; he has been artist-in-residence at LMCC/Workspace: 120 Broadway and is a guest composer in Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute's Create @ iEAR residency. Carter has received awards from Media Alliance and Rhizome.

    Lukasz Kamil Lysakowski is an artist working in virtual space and new media technologies, creating and reflecting contemporary cultural expressions through art and technology; website: http://www.wildlifeanalysis.org/. He exhibited and performed widely between 2000 and 2004 at museums and festivals including Guggenheim Bilbao, P.S.1, Transmediale, First Prague Biennale, Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, Creative Time and the American Museum of Moving Images; his work screened at Transmediale and MIT Film & Video Festival. He released CD-ROM/DVD projects (Transmediale Screenings, YUV(v.02), 242.pilots), lectured at MIT, Cornell and RIT, and received residencies at Steim and IMAL plus grants from the MIT Council for the Arts and the Transmediale Grand Prize.

  • Ron Kuivila People

    Ron Kuivila is an artist and composer who pioneered the use of ultrasound and sound sampling in live performance; his recent work explores compositional algorithms, speech synthesis and high voltage phenomena. He has collaborated with composers, artists and choreographers and has performed and exhibited installations and concerts throughout the U.S., Canada and Europe. He studied with Alvin Lucier at Wesleyan and with Robert Ashley and David Behrman at Mills College; he was an NEA Fellow at Creative Associates, artist-in-residence at Media Study/Buffalo (1979-80), a 1980 CAPS recipient, and is a Professor of Musicology at Wesleyan who curated Rock's Role (After Ryoanji) at Art in General in 2004.
