Andreas Broeckmann

Broeckmann lives and works in Berlin. Since the autumn of 2000 he has been the Artistic Director of transmediale--festival for art and digital culture berlin. With its 35,000 visitors, transmediale is one of the major venues for the presentation and discussion of media art in Europe. The festival has paid particular attention to recent debates about the understanding of media art and its latest developments, including electronic music, software art, and locative media.

Broeckmann studied art history, sociology, and media studies in Germany and Britain. He worked as a project manager at V2_Organisation Rotterdam, Institute for the Unstable Media, from 1995--2000. He co-maintains the Spectre mailing list and is a member of the Berlin-based media association mikro, and of the European Cultural Backbone, a network of media centers.

    Wojciech Kosma, born 1981 in Poland, is a sound artist and freelance programmer who graduated from Sonic Arts at Middlesex University London; he develops audiovisual performances, interactive software art, experimental film and music and uses computer coding as composing. His works were commissioned by the British Council (with Carey Young), Polish National Television (with A. Gryka and M.Iwata), Uwaga Festival and Unsound Festival; he has performed and exhibited at Projet Itinerant (Argentina/France), Cybersonica 06 (UK), Sonorities (UK), Trafo Gallery (Hungary), Expodium (Holland), Audio Art (Poland), Uwaga Festival (Germany) and ICA (UK).     Trebor Scholz is a media artist who organizes conferences, publications, online forums, mailing lists and research networks and writes about collaborative new media art, mapping and education; his work has been exhibited at the Venice Biennial (with Martha Rosler/The Fleas), the Sao Paulo Biennial and FILE (Sao Paolo). He co-founded Discordia and organized large-scale programs including FreeCooperation (2004, with Geert Lovink) and Kosov@: Carnival in the Eye of the Storm (2000); in 2004 he founded the Institute for Distributed Creativity, a research network focused on collaboration in media art, theory and education. He is assistant professor and researcher at the Department of Media Study, SUNY at Buffalo; a book, The Art of Online Collaboration (eds.
