• Deborah Poe People

  Deborah Poe worked as an environmental activist in Austin; as a hostel clerk and bartender in Paris; as a waitress in Taos; and as an editor and international program manager in Seattle, and as an educator in Washington state and New York. She is preparing the poetry collection Our Parenthetical Ontology and a forthcoming book, Elements; her poems were nominated for Pushcart Prizes the last two years and have appeared in Drunken Boat and in the anthology Fingernails Across the Chalkboard: Poetry and Prose on HIV/AIDS From the Black Diaspora.

• Laurie Beth Clark People

  Laurie Beth Clark was raised in New York City and holds a B.A., an M.A. in Visual Arts and an M.F.A.; since 1985 she has lived in Madison, Wisconsin, where she teaches Installation and Video and has held administrative roles. Her multidisciplinary practice uses video, performance, installation and multimedia to examine social issues; projects in Germany consider the holocaust and other genocides, and she is developing international research on trauma memorials and shopping environments. She received fellowships from Jerome and McKnight and published in anthologies such as A Performance Cosmology (Routledge, 2006).

• Barbara Rosenthal People

  Barbara Rosenthal (born 17 August 1948) is a New York–based conceptual polyartist who has produced photographs, videos, super/8 films, objects, games, performances, book-art and interactive novelties; her work was shown at The Jewish Museum (Time and Memory: Video Art and Identity, 1988) and the Center For Photography in Woodstock (Time, Memory, and the Limits of Photography, 1995), and is held by The Whitney Museum and MoMA. She studied at the Brooklyn Museum Art School, Art Students' League (1964–66), earned a B.F.A. from Carnegie-Mellon (1970) and an M.F.A. from Queens College/CUNY (1973), and has taught at numerous institutions including Tisch School of the Arts/NYU and CUNY/College of Staten Island (teaching Writing since 1992); published books include Clues to Myself (1981), Sensations (1984), Homo Futurus (1996) and Soul & Psyche (1999).

• Carolyn Tennant People

  Carolyn Tennant holds an MFA from SUNY at Buffalo and a BA (1997) from Hampshire College; additional studies include Squeaky Wheel (2003), Visual Studies Workshop (2002), Mount Holyoke (1993–95), Cornell (1993–94) and the Salt Center for Documentary Field Studies (1994). Since 6/2002 she has been affiliated with the Experimental Television Center (Newark Valley, NY) and from 1/2002 served as Research Assistant for Dr. Zimmermann at Ithaca College, performing copy editing and administrative work. Her Chicago employment included office-manager and receptionist roles; her productions include Fenceline, The Last Hand Loader, Rulloff's Brain, Mazamorreo (recipient of a $10,000 Ill. Humanities Council grant), and the multi-media You Don't Feed Me.

  MA, Art History, Oberlin College. During doctorate at Yale, held Fulbright-Hays Fellowship to France for film studies; Curator of Film and Video, Carnegie Museum of Art; on faculty of Fine Arts, University of Pittsburgh; panelist for several state Arts Councils and the NEA.

• Melinda Barlow People

  Melinda Barlow is Associate Professor at the University of Colorado at Boulder; she joined CU in 1996 after teaching at New York University, the School of Visual Arts, and Queens College, City University of New York. She edited Mary Lucier: Art and Performance (2000, Johns Hopkins University Press) and is a film and video historian specializing in contemporary independent women film and videomakers; her articles have appeared in journals including Camera Obscura and Art Journal. She received the Lyn Blumenthal Memorial Award and a CU Center for the Humanities and the Arts Fellowship in 2005; she founded the Leah Kelly Memorial Award and has a forthcoming book, Lost Objects of Desire (University of Minnesota Press).
