The Media Arts In Transition, a conference organized and cosponsored by Walker Art Center in association with National Alliance of Media Arts Centers, Minneapolis College of Art and Design, University Community Video and Film in the Cities. June 8-11, 1983. Programming committee: Melinda Ward, Jennifer Lawson and John Minkowsky.

Its purpose was to focus on the contemporary technological, social, economic and aesthetic forces shaping the future of the media arts. Texts by Ron Green, Brian O'Doherty, Virgil Grillo, Gene Youngblood, Howard Wise, Jonas Mekas, Stan Brakhage, Nam June Paik, Shirley Clarke, Ed Emshwiller, Tony Conrad, Alvey Ray Smith, Frank Hodsoll, B. Ruby Rich, Renee Tajima, Barbara London, John Giancola, Jon Alpert, George Stoney, Bill Viola and Robert Haller.
