Ben Rubin

Ben Rubin is a media artist based in New York City. Mr. Rubin's exhibitions include shows at the Whitney Museum of American Art, the MIT List Visual Arts Center, and the Skirball Center in Los Angeles (in a show organized by the Getty Museum). He has been a frequent collaborator with artists and performers including Laurie Anderson, Diller+Scofidio, Ann Hamilton, Arto Lindsay, Steve Reich, and Beryl Korot.

Rubin's Listening Post (2002, with statistician Mark Hansen) won the 2004 Golden Nica Prize from Ars Electronica. Mr. Rubin received a B.A. from Brown University in 1987 and an M.S. in visual studies from the MIT Media Lab in 1989. Mr. Rubin teaches at the Yale School of Art, where he was appointed critic in graphic design in 2004. www.earstudio.com.

    Tony Weathers holds an MFA from Cornish College of Arts and served as Technical Assistant to video artist Gary Hill; his exhibitions include Commencement Art Gallery (WA), Schnitt Ausstellungstraum (Germany), Bank of America (WA), SF DRS Television (Germany) and ARTE Television (Germany, France and Switzerland). His awards include an Artist Trust Fellowship and a nomination for Internationaler Medien Kunst Pries at ZKM, Germany.

  • Christiane Paul People

    Christiane Paul is Adjunct Curator of New Media Arts at the Whitney Museum of American Art and director of Intelligent Agent; she authored Digital Art (Thames & Hudson, July 2003) and edited an anthology on Curating New Media forthcoming from UC Press. She teaches in the MFA computer arts department at the School of Visual Arts and in Digital Media at the Rhode Island School of Design and has lectured internationally. At the Whitney she curated Data Dynamics (2001), the net art selection for the 2002 Whitney Biennial and CODeDOC (2002) for artport, and curated Follow Through (2005); her other curatorial projects include exhibitions and festival presentations in Madrid, New York, Bilbao, Boston, Ars Electronica and Moscow.

  • Thomas Allen Harris People

    Thomas Allen Harris (born 1962) was raised in the Bronx and Dar-Es-Salaam, Tanzania; he earned a BA from Harvard and attended the Whitney Independent Study Program. His performance-based video works were exhibited internationally, including FESPACO (1997), Kunsthalle Basel, the Whitney Biennial (1995) and the 1997 Performance Art Festival in Cleveland. After work as a public television staff producer and two Emmy nominations he completed the feature VINTAGE * Families of Value and the 1992 installation BLACK BODY. He co-created ALCHEMY (1998) and AFRO (1999), is Associate Professor of Media Arts at UC San Diego, has received awards from foundations and arts councils, and is completing the feature E Minha Cara.

  • Lee Montgomery People

    Lee Montgomery holds a BA in Film from Bard College and an MFA in New Genres from the San Francisco Art Institute; he founded Neighborhood Public Radio and received grants from CEC Artslink, the Creative Work Fund, and the Walter and Elise Haas Fund. He served as an artist in residence with kuda in Novi Sad, Serbia and the Hochschule fur Bildende Kunst in Hamburg; Neighborhood Public Radio was named Best Super Local Radio Station by San Francisco magazine and was featured in The San Francisco Chronicle, Punk Planet, Artforum, the Chicago Reader, and Women's Wear Daily. In 2008 NPR completed a 4 month storefront residency next to the Whitney Museum as part of the 2008 Whitney Biennial; Montgomery's solo project Broadcast Version addresses D.I.Y. technology and copyright law.
