Lee Montgomery

Lee Montgomery received his BA in Film from Bard College and his MFA in New Genres from the San Francisco Art Institute. As the founder of Neighborhood Public Radio, Lee has received grants from CEC Artslink, the Creative Work Fund, and the Walter and Elise Haas Fund. He has been an artist in residence with kuda in Novi Sad, Serbia and the Hochschule fur Bildende Kunst in Hamburg.

Neighborhood Public Radio has been named "Best Super Local Radio Station" by San Francisco magazine and has been featured in The San Francisco Chronicle, Punk Planet magazine, Artforum, the Chicago Reader, and Women's Wear Daily. As a traveling band of guerrilla broadcasters, NPR has hosted thematic broadcasts far and wide, including both Artist's Television Access and Southern Exposure Gallery in San Francisco's Mission District, The DeYoung Museum and the Museum for Contemporary Art Novi Sad, Serbia. In 2008, NPR completed an unprecedented 4 month residency in a storefront next door to the Whitney Museum as part of the 2008 Whitney Biennial. In his solo work, Lee continues to explore D.I.Y. approaches to technology and issues of copyright law through the project "Broadcast Version".

    Thomas Allen Harris (born 1962) was raised in the Bronx and Dar-Es-Salaam, Tanzania; he earned a BA from Harvard and attended the Whitney Independent Study Program. His performance-based video works were exhibited internationally, including FESPACO (1997), Kunsthalle Basel, the Whitney Biennial (1995) and the 1997 Performance Art Festival in Cleveland. After work as a public television staff producer and two Emmy nominations he completed the feature VINTAGE * Families of Value and the 1992 installation BLACK BODY. He co-created ALCHEMY (1998) and AFRO (1999), is Associate Professor of Media Arts at UC San Diego, has received awards from foundations and arts councils, and is completing the feature E Minha Cara.

  • Lee Krist People

    Lee Krist presented solo exhibitions 2000–2004 at venues including Brooklyn Babylon Cinema, The Whitney Museum of American Art, Cal Arts, San Francisco Cinematheque and Reed College; participated in group exhibitions 1998–2003 at venues including The Robert Beck Memorial Cinema, Mix and PENUMBRA. Krist's filmography (1997–2003) comprises 16 mm and 35 mm hand-processed works and installations including Grieg Farm, August 1997, Greenpoint, The Portland Movie and the Big Film Series; the Tableaux Vivant installation used 35 mm strips illuminated by 16 mm projected loops. Krist led workshops at Bard College, Lift Film Cooperative, Northwest Film Center and Reed College; awards include a Black Maria Director's Citation and Finishing Funds 2004; education: B.A., Bard College, May 1999, concentration in Film Production.
