David Sampliner

David Sampliner's first feature, Dirty Work, co-directed with Tim Nackashi, screened at Sundance, won Best Documentary Feature at the Atlanta Film Festival, and aired on the Sundance Channel. He directed and shot Turning Points, an award-winning film on LGBT ordination in the Presbyterian Church. He directed, shot, and edited the DVD featurette on the making of By the People: The Election of Barack Obama.

He co-directed Art, Architecture, and Innovation, a documentary about the history of the Guggenheim Museum currently on the festival circuit and airing on Channel 13 in New York. His latest feature, My Own Man, is a personal film examining the meaning of manhood in the age of post-macho men, which he's directing, editing, writing, and shooting on super-16mm film. He grew up in Shaker Heights, Ohio, and now lives in Manhattan.

    The report documents NYSCA-supported film and media activities including a Young Filmmakers Albany South End workshop sponsored by Upper Hudson Library Federation, Aldo Tambellini working with elementary students at a television studio, and high school students screening films in Yorktown. It records Elaine Summers’ Electric Kinetic Gymnasium at C.W. Post College on Long Island planned to use twenty-four projectors.     Avi Zev Weider is a filmmaker who co-created the short film I REMEMBER with novelist Paul Auster in 1997; the film starred John Cameron Mitchell and premiered at the 1998 Sundance Film Festival. He founded Loop Filmworks in 1998 and produced over fifty broadcast spots for clients such as HBO; he developed a television series for IFC and was a 2008 Screenwriting fellow of the New York Foundation for the Arts. Longer-form credits include ZEROES AND ONES (pre-production) and associate-producer roles on 30TH CENTURY MAN (NY premiere at 2007 Tribeca; 2007 BAFTA nominee) and CINEMANIA (2002).
