Grundik Kasyansky

Grundik Kasyansky (Moscow, Tel-Aviv, NYC) composes and improvises live electronic music, sound installations, and sound for film, theatre and dance. He formed Grundik+Slava (http://www.grusla.com) together with Slava Smelovsky in Israel in 1995. The duo quickly emerged as one of the most respected experimental outfits in Israel. Their music is published through various labels in Israel and EU.

In May 2006 Grundik released solo full-length album "Light and Roundchair" through the Portuguese label Creative Sources. Grundik's sound installations were presented at the Herzelia Museum of Art (Israel), Diapason Gallery (NY), Art in General (NY), CAVE (NY), Andrea Meislin Gallery (NY), Galleria Pack (Italy), Digitalis 2 (Canada) and Pixxelpoint 2002 (Slovenia). As sound designer he worked for numerous award-winning films and theatre productions. He received a Finishing Funds 2006 award from the Experimental Television Center.

  • Tarikh Korula People

    Tarikh Korula is an artist whose video and sound work has been shown at ISEA (France and Japan), Siggraph, London’s ICA and in the online collection Refresh: The Art of the Screensaver at ArtMuseum.net; his pieces have been performed in New York City venues. He received The Media Alliance’s Independent Radio and Sound Art Fellowship in 2002 for City/Slice, was Research and Development Artist-in-Residence at Eyebeam Digital Atelier in 2003, and earned his Masters from NYU’s Interactive Telecommunications Program (ITP) in 2000. He has taught workshops at FIT and The Edit Center, runs Uncommon Projects, and works experimentally with consumer electronics, video, software and audio, producing projects including Square Dance and L'il Sis.

  • Slawomir Grunberg People

    Slawomir Grunberg, born in Lublin, Poland, is an Emmy Award–winning documentary producer, director, cameraman and editor who graduated from the Polish Film School in Lodz and emigrated to the US in 1981; he has directed and produced over 40 television documentaries. His films include School Prayer (PBS/POV 1999; National Emmy), Fenceline (ITVS; PBS/POV 2002; 2003 EMA), Chelyabinsk (Grand Prix Grenoble 1996) and From Chechnya to Chernobyl (Grand Prix Prague 1998). He photographed Legacy and Sister Rose's Passion (Academy Award–recognized), received Guggenheim, NYFA and Soros fellowships, and his work has screened at Lincoln Center, the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum and MoMA; he speaks Polish, Russian and English.

  • Gokcen Ergene People

    Gokcen Ergene (aka Gekko) is an artist working mainly in film and video; his productions and short films have been exhibited in the US and Europe. In 2001 he produced and directed the premiere stage adaptation of Robert Walser's Jakob von Gunten and collaborated with poet Stephen Sandy on the record Timex. He is a founding member of the performance group KUKLA; he has taught film and audio production at Bennington College and Syracuse University, directs the Single Reel Film & Video Festival, and is working on the feature 9 Keys.

  • Katherine Liberovskaya People

    Katherine Liberovskaya is a video and media artist based in Montreal and New York; she has worked in experimental video since the late eighties and produced single-channel videos, installations and performances. Her recent practice centers on collaborations with new-music composers and sound artists and, since 2003, on live video mixing and improvisation with numerous musicians. She organized events with Studio XX in Montreal (programming coordinator 1996–1998; president 2001–2003), Espace Vidéographe and Experimental Intermedia, NY (Screen Compositions 2005–2007), and co-presented the OptoSonic Tea series with Ursula Scherrer at Diapason in NYC.

  • David Weinstein People

    David Weinstein is a composer and multimedia artist whose musical and site-specific installation works have been shown worldwide; his musical practice juxtaposes sound effects, traditional and non traditional instruments, synthetic sound, ancient and exotic tunings, and noise. As a keyboardist he has recorded and performed with Shelley Hirsch, Elliott Sharp, John Zorn, Ned Rothenberg and Rhys Chatham; his theatrical, installation and multimedia pieces have received grants and awards. He participated in a long collaboration with the live video performance group The Poool and works with Doris Vila on animated, multi-user, multi-screen responsive environment installations cited at Prix Ars Electronica 2002.
