Ken Kobland

Kobland was born in the Bronx. He has studied architecture, art and philosophy. He has been making film and video since the mid 1970s.

Graduated in Art with a minor in Philosophy from Union College, Schenectady, New York, 1969. Attended Columbia University School of Architecture, 1967-68. Since 1975, Mr. Kobland has produced film and video artworks, (most recently, ARISE! WALK DOG, which was supported by the Finishing Funds Program of the Experimental Television Center, and has subsequently shown in the World-Wide Video Festival, Amsterdam, Lucarno Video-Art, the Rotterdam Film Festival, the Berlin International Forum, the 8th Media Biennial in Geneva*, the Film+Arch Biennial in Graz*, Austria, the San Francisco Film Festival, Golden Gate Awards*, the Vienna Viennale, the Montreal Film Festival and CinemaTexas, Austin*).

He has also produced a number of performance/media pieces for theatrical presentation in collaboration with The Wooster Group, the New York based experimental theater. Most recently a documentary and performance DVD of the Group's 1999 production HOUSE/LIGHTS. Mr. Kobland's cinematography credits include a range of documentary works on artists (including Joan Mitchell, Chuck Close and Louise Bourgeois) and on contemporary art for PBS and ZDF-Germany.

    Brett Kashmere is a filmmaker who grew up on the Canadian prairies and now lives in Central New York; he writes on avant-garde cinema, curates exhibitions, teaches experimental film and co-founded the antechamber and Syracuse Experimental. He has presented screenings and curated exhibitions internationally and in 2004 organized the touring expanded-cinema installation and DVD catalog Industry: Recent works by Richard Kerr. His writing has appeared in journals; his films have screened internationally; he holds degrees from the University of Regina (BA) and Concordia (MA, MFA); his most recently completed film is Valery's Ankle (2006).

  • Adam Kendall People

    Adam Kendall is a New York City video artist and musician who composes audiovisual work and performs solo and with collaborators including Vortex. He has worked with Hellbender Film Projekt and served as video resident for Brooklyn events Dogs Blood Rising and The Wrecking Ball. His work has screened nationally and internationally at New York venues and festivals including Experimental Intermedia (NYC 2005). He co-curated {R}ake, founded F:T:H, has been included in The New York Times and Remix, lectured at Parsons M.F.A., and lives in Brooklyn, NY; www.hellbender.org.

  • Liselot van der Heijden People

    Liselot van der Heijden, born in Haarlem, Netherlands, lives and works in New York City and produces installations, videos, objects and photographs exploring control and the power of the gaze and Nature as cultural ideas. Her work has been exhibited at institutions including Palais de Tokyo (Paris), Musée d'art Moderne et Contemporain de Strasbourg and the New Museum. She received a fellowship from the Civitella Ranieri Foundation and residencies at the Experimental Television Center; she holds a BFA (Cooper Union) and MFA (Hunter College) and joined the College of New Jersey in September 2005.

  • Ken Feingold People

    Ken Feingold (USA, 1952) is an artist working in film, video, objects and installations since 1974; he studied at Antioch College and holds B.F.A. and M.F.A. degrees in Post-Studio Art from CalArts. He received Rockefeller Foundation and Guggenheim Fellowships (2003, 2004), taught at Princeton University and Cooper Union, and exhibited commissioned and biennial works including Interior (1997) for ICC Biennale '97 Tokyo and If/Then in Whitney Biennial 2002. His works are in MoMA (Film Study Collection), Centre Georges Pompidou, Kiasma and ZKM; he has lived in India, Japan and Argentina and lives in New York City.

  • Jacolby Satterwhite People

    Jacolby Satterwhite is a multimedia artist born in Columbia, South Carolina; he holds an MFA from the University of Pennsylvania and a BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art. He attended residencies at Skowhegan School for Painting and Sculpture, Harvestworks, and the Center For Photography at Woodstock and has been included in group exhibitions and performances at Exit Art, Rush Arts Gallery, The Kitchen, PS.1 MoMA, and The Smithsonian.
