Liz Rodda

Liz Rodda is a multimedia artist working primarily in single channel and installation-based film and video. Her work unites politics and self, image and text, history and performance. Through giving voice to personal experience, she contributes to a larger knowledge of the current cultural climate. Her large-scale projections and installations envelop viewers in image and sound and are distinguished by their irony and simplicity.

Rodda received her BA in English Literature from Willamette University of Salem, Oregon. She received her MFA in Studio for Interrelated Media at the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston. She currently teaches at the University of Massachusetts. www.lizrodda.com

  • Leah Gilliam People

    Leah Gilliam (b. 1967, Washington, DC) is a video and new-media artist and Associate Professor of Film and Electronic Arts at Bard College. She studied at Brown (B.A.) and the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee (M.F.A.) and presented her first solo museum exhibition, Agenda for a Landscape, at the New Museum in 2002. Her video Apeshit was named one of Film Comment's Best of 1999 and Sapphire and the Slave Girl won the New Visions Video Award; her projects received funding from Creative Capital and New York State Council on the Arts.

    Annmarie Lanesey is an artist working primarily with video installation and video performance; her work has been shown internationally at galleries, new media festivals and contemporary art venues including the Institute of Contemporary Art in London, Museo de Arte Moderno in Buenos Aries, Argentina, The Center for Contemporary Art in Tel Aviv, Israel, and the 11th International Media Art Biennale in Wroclaw, Poland. She returned to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute as an adjunct faculty member in the Art Department, having received a BS in Electronic Media Art and Communication in 2001 and an MFA in Electronic Art in 2004; her website is www.toxicvideolove.com and she received a Finishing Funds 2007 award from the Experimental Television Center.

  • Ayoka Chenzira People

    Ayoka Chenzira is a filmmaker and media artist regarded as the first African-American woman animator and among the first to produce and direct a 35mm feature, Alma's Rainbow, which Billboard listed among top home video rentals (May 1998); her work is in collections including the Museum of Modern Art. She founded Red Carnelian Films and taught at the City college of New York, serving as Chair of Media & Communication Arts (1997–2001). She co-created the College's MFA in Media Arts Production (1995) and in 2001 accepted the William and Camille Cosby Endowed Chair of Fine Arts at Spelman College.
