Martin Arnold is an Austrian filmmaker and installation artistst, who has taught film production at various North American and European institutions such as the University fo Wisconsin in Milwaukee, the San Francisco Art Institute, Bard College, The Academy of Fine Arts in Frankfurt, and the Academy for Artistic and Industrial Design in Linz, Austria. Martin Arnold holds a Ph. D. from the University of Vienna in Media Psychology. His films have screened widely in the US and in Europ. Since 1989, his work has shown at 147 international film festivals including Cannes, Rotterdam, Oberhousen and the New York Film Festival. At these Festivals he has won 36 awards including the Jury Award at Oberhousen, Best of Fest at Ann Arbor and a Golden Gate Award at the San Fransisco International Film Festival. His films have shown in Museums and Cinematheques all over the world, such as the Cnematheque Royale in Brussels and the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris and MoMA in NYC. Essays on his work and at length interviews have appeared in several film magazines including Afterimage, Film Quarterly, Cahiers du Cinema and in books such as A Critical Cinema 3 by Scott MacDonald, l'Art du mouvement by Jean-Michel Bohours for the Cnetre George Pompidou, Florilege Scrtatch, edited by Yann Beauvais and Jean-Damien Collin, and Found Footage Film, edited by Cicilia Hausheer and Christoph Settele. Shorter reviews of his films were published in numerous publications, including The New Yourk Times, The Vllage Voice ,L.A. Weekly, Le Monde, La Liberation, Die Neue Zuticher Zeitung. In his recent works "Deanimated-The Invisible Ghost, "Forsaken" adn"Dissociated" he has worked with compositing software such as Digital Fusion, Combustion, and After Effects to create film installations that are presented in digitl formats.
