Sarah Zia Ebrahimi

Sara Zia Ebrahimi is a founding member of Free Radio Gainesville, an unlicensed community radio station in Florida. She has also been involved in the Civic Media Center, a community space and library of independent books, magazines, and audio and video tapes, for 5 years.

She has recently moved to Philadelphia where she is starting a new community radio station. She participated in the conference Video History: Making Connections, organized by the Experimental Television Center and held at Syracuse University in October 1998.

  • Victoria Kereszi People

    Victoria L. Kereszi is a documentary producer and media educator who serves as Director of Programming at Manhattan Neighborhood Network, New York City's community access center. She has taught video production at public schools across New York City and at Global Action Project, working with teens on videos about sexual health and anti-tobacco campaigns; she traveled to Costa Rica and Cuba with delegations of youth and co-directed Cuba Beside Us, a video documenting Cuban and American youth during the summer of 2002. She holds a Master's degree in Documentary and Women's Memoir Film from New York University's Gallatin School of Individualized Study.

    Zarah Cabanas is a Philippines-born, New York City-based video artist, live visualist (VJ) and musician (aka Lady Firefly); she worked as Video Editor/Artist at Blue Man Group and her work has appeared on the How To Be A Megastar Tour, DJ Tiesto's Elements of Life Tour and on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno. She creates live video performance compositions, pre-composed and edited video artworks, improvised and collaborative sets and multi-channel installations; support has been received from NYC Department of Cultural Affairs, Experimental Television Center, New York University, Chashama and Knitting Factory.

  • Karen Helmerson People

    Karen Helmerson is Director of the Electronic Media and Film Program and has worked with independent and community-based media for over 20 years; she served as Deputy Director of Film/Video Arts and as Associate Director of the Educational Video Center. As former chair of the Alliance for Community Media (ACM) International Committee she traveled throughout the US, Canada, Europe and Japan speaking on access, literacy and development; she has exhibited as a video artist, served on the board of the Media Alliance and was recently a NYSCA Arts in Education panelist.

  • Sara Diamond People

    Sara Diamond is a television, new media and visual artist, critic, teacher and curator; she has led programs in new media, visual art and television at The Banff Centre since 1992. She established the Banff New Media Institute, developed Women in the Directors' Chair and residencies such as Nomad and Beauty, and produced television co-productions including Women's Shorts and the millennium project Human Vox/Computer Voice. Her awards include the Bell Canada Award for Achievement in Video (1995) and Educator of the Year at the 2002 Canadian New Media Awards; her appointments include Cultural Industries SAGIT, the Canada Council Advisory Committee for Media Arts and the Cultural Diversity Advisory Committee for Heritage Canada.
