Ursula Endlicher

Ursula Endlicher's work resides on the intersection of Internet, performance and multi-media installation. Since the mid-90s the Internet has had an impact on her practice, which bridges the Web and physical reality. She uses the Web's 'hidden' languageãits HTML codeãto choreograph performances, visualizes HTML in installations, and translates it into sound.

Her work was recently shown at Theater am Neumarkt in Z¸rich, Switzerland; at Quartier21/Museumsquartier, Vienna, Austria; at BM-Suma Contemporary Art Center in Istanbul, Turkey; at Woodstreet Galleries, Pittsburgh, PA; at Artists Space, New York, and at the LMCC Swing Space@Seaport in New York. She received commissions from Turbulence.org/New Radio and Performing Arts, Inc., and from the Whitney Museum for its artport website. Her work is included in Rhizome's Art Base, and in the ursula blicke videoarchiv at Kunsthalle Wien, Austria. Endlicher has lectured about her work internationally and has contributed to several publications about net art, performance and interactivity; she discusses these topics on her blog, Curating Netart, which she runs together with Ela Kagel. She was born in Vienna, Austria and lives in New York since 1993. Endlicher's work can be seen at https://www.ursenal.net.

  • Tina LaPorta People

    Tina LaPorta is a media artist who has created web-specific artwork since 1997; she was Artist-in-Residence at Ars Electronica's FutureLab (Linz, Austria), where she created the web-based video installation TRACES. TRACES was shown at SEAFAIR '98 (Macedonia) and VIDEOMEDEJA (Bosnia), and her net works appeared in ALT-X, Studio XX (Montreal) and the Leonardo Electronic Gallery (MIT). She was Artist-in-Residence at the Experimental Television Center (Owego, NY), completed the video Camera Work, produced the Manhattan Cable monthly show CyberFemme TV (1996–97) and earned an M.F.A. from the School of Visual Arts.

  • Necole Zayatz People

    Necole Zayatz is an interdisciplinary artist working in printmaking, painting and writing; she focuses on psychological dissemination through voice and video and has increasingly incorporated sensors into performance. She now works primarily in video and engages with performance and both verbal and non-verbal language. Her work has been shown at the European Media Arts Festival (Osnabruck, Germany) and the Friesland Media Arts Festival (Leeuwarden, The Netherlands); she is continuing graduate coursework in the Electronic Integrated Arts Program, NYSCC, at Alfred University.

    Jacqueline Goss is a media artist who uses analog and digital media to examine transitions between oral and written communication; her work centers the speaking subject and voice guides choice of tools and materials. Recent videos include The 100th Undone and There There Square; her work has screened at New York Video Festival and Rotterdam Film Festival. She has held fellowships from the New York Foundation for the Arts and Banff Centre; she earned an MFA in Electronic Arts from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1997 and teaches at Bard College.

    Annmarie Lanesey is an artist working primarily with video installation and video performance; her work has been shown internationally at galleries, new media festivals and contemporary art venues including the Institute of Contemporary Art in London, Museo de Arte Moderno in Buenos Aries, Argentina, The Center for Contemporary Art in Tel Aviv, Israel, and the 11th International Media Art Biennale in Wroclaw, Poland. She returned to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute as an adjunct faculty member in the Art Department, having received a BS in Electronic Media Art and Communication in 2001 and an MFA in Electronic Art in 2004; her website is www.toxicvideolove.com and she received a Finishing Funds 2007 award from the Experimental Television Center.
