William Blue

William Blue is a moviemaker, performance artist, actor and musician who was born and raised in Seattle, Washington, but now lives in New York City. In 1996, Blue founded Ready Light Productions, a company that produces his work, as well as other progressive artists' projects. In 2000, he made three movies: Versus, Half-Life and I Ignore Beautiful People on Purpose. These works will appear before audiences around the world throughout 2001.

He is also the singer and guitar player for M.O.S., a rock/electronic music band he formed in 1999. Currently, Blue is working on a video installation, other short video art projects and a multi-media performance piece entitled The Myna Session. http://www.readylight.com

  • Matt Schlanger Chronology

    Matt Schlanger recorded Blue Mercury at the ETC in July 1986 after moving back to New York in the summer of 1985; he had spent the previous year in Owego building hardware for the Center and developing his own synths. He taught at the Center for Media Arts, parked his system in a Soho loft above Arnolds Turtle and later with Hank Linhart on North 13th in Greenpoint, where he collaborated with Hank, Terry Mohre and Laurie Needell and edited Before the Flood on a straight-cut system. Blue Mercury was first shown as a three-minute edit, later expanded to a 15-minute installation developed with Charlie Citron and screened at Monte Video in Amsterdam and in 1991 at the Thread Waxing space.

  • An Interview with Peer Bode Interview

    Peer Bode began producing video around 1971 with an early black-and-white portapak while an undergraduate at SUNY Binghamton; he worked with filmmakers Larry Gottheim and Ken Jacobs and used the Experimental TV Center's keyers, mixers and colorizers. Remaining in Binghamton through the mid-1970s, he collaborated with the American Dance Asylum and with engineers and artists Ralph Hocking, Nam June Paik, Shuya Abe, David Jones and Walter Wright on tools such as the Paik-Abe Colorizer/Synthesizer, SEGs, Scan-A-Mate, a Spatial and Intensity Digitizer and an Elf II computer.

  • Skip Blumberg People

    Skip Blumberg is a video artist and independent television producer who used the Sony Video Rover (reel-to-reel/b&w) in the 1960s. He participated in 1970s New York video groups, led Media Bus, Inc., and experimented with live broadcast projects such as Lanesville TV and Image Union's 1976 live coverage of the Presidential convention; his work screened at international festivals and museums, and he received grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, New York State arts agencies and the Guggenheim Foundation. Weekend in Moscow was supported by the Experimental Television Center in 1993.
