He has recently performed at the Ontario Open Air Teknival and the Festival of Mixology at the Performance Garage. His form evolves by employing a focused palette of technicals using available digital resources.

    Galen Joseph-Hunter has served as Executive Director of free103point9 since 2002 and worked at Electronic Arts Intermix (EAI) since 1996. She co-curated Video Jam with Michael Rush at the Palm Beach Institute of Contemporary Art (2001) and curated See Through at PBICA (2000); other projects include Video Windows (2001), Tune(In))) (2003), Tune(In))) The Kitchen (2004) and Airborne (2005). She has presented lectures and served on panels on Transmission Arts at ArtChicago (1999), Bard College (2001), The Kitchen (2002) and Observatori Festival, Valencia (2006); website http://www.free103point9.org.

    Anton Marini (Aka Vade) is a New York based video engineer and new media programmer specializing in video and 3D systems for post production, visual effects and realtime systems; his work includes designing software environments and systems for realtime performance and aesthetics for abstract visual communication. He is a frequent collaborator at Share (http://share.dj) and has participated in events such as Anyware, Share Montreal, Eyewash, Rake and Share @ The Kitchen, and has led several workshops in new media programming environments.

    Vibeke Sorensen delivered a talk, Panel: The Artist in the 2 and 3 -D Marketplace, at the ACM SIGGRAPH Conference in Boston, Massachusetts on August 2, 1989; she examined artist–industry collaborations and argued for artists as researchers and equal partners with computer scientists in interdisciplinary computer graphics and scientific visualization. She cited Apple Computer, Pacific Data Images, NCSA, SDSC, the Art(n) group, and the National Science Foundation (1987 report), and described projects including NCSA’s Renaissance Teams, an Omnimax project, two Mars Rover animation sequences with the Jet Propulsion Laboratory’s Dr. Brian Muirhead, and an NSF-funded interactive stereoscopic animation project with Dr. Lynn Teneyck at SDSC; she advised artists to prioritize innovation, education, and integrity.

  • Michael Scroggins People

    Michael Scroggins is a videographic and computer animator who has worked in real-time videographic animation since 1970 and in non-real-time 3D computer animation since 1983; he became active in immersive VR in 1992 after receiving a Banff Centre for the Arts grant and premiered the VR installation Topological Slide at the Fourth International Conference on Cyberspace in 1993. He holds an MFA from CalArts and has been on the CalArts faculty since 1978; he studied under Nam June Paik and Shuya Abe and collaborated on the Paik/Abe Video Synthesizer. His absolute animation works have been screened internationally at institutions including the Centre George Pompidou, the Union of Filmmakers in Moscow, Seibu Ginza in Tokyo, and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
