Anna Sperber

Anna Sperber is a native of Brooklyn, New York, where she is currently based. She is a 2006-07 Movement Research Artist In Residence, and a recipient of NYSCA Dance Program Public Commissioning Funds.

Her work has been presented in venues throughout NYC including Dance Theater Workshop, Danspace Project at St. Mark's Church, Movement Research at Judson Church, The Brooklyn Museum of Art, the 92nd St. Y Harkness Dance Center, Dixon Place, Joyce SoHo, and Chez Bushwick (at Shtudio Show and The Ronald Feldman Gallery). She has an ongoing collaborative relationship with her husband, artist and musician, Peter Kerlin.

Sperber, with composer Mario Diaz de Leon and Video artist Jay King collaborated on cinema installation Cutting and Joining, 2005. Anna holds a BFA from SUNY Purchase. As a performer she has worked with Julie Atlas Muz, Isabel Lewis, Beth Gill, The Brooklyn Adult Recorder Choir, and participated in the Movement Research Improvisation Festival 2004: Improvisation is Hard. In addition to her own work, Anna currently dances with Juliette Mapp, and runs Brazil, a studio and informal performance space in Bushwick, Brooklyn. https://www.annasperber.com/

    Amy Jenkins is a Brooklyn-based artist working in installations, video and photography; her work has been exhibited and published internationally. She has received support from agencies including the New York State Council for the Arts, Pollock-Krasner Foundation and Jerome Foundation, and has held residencies at Djerassi (Woodside, CA) with a Hewlett-Packard Honorary Fellowship, Harvestworks (NY), Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, MacDowell Colony, Yaddo and Light Work. Her video Closures won awards at Black Maria and the New York Exposition of Short Film and Video; her work has been shown in US and international institutions and reviewed in major art publications; she is represented by Jack Tilton/Anna Kustera Gallery, New York.

  • Elinore Burke People

    Elinore Burke holds a BFA in Electronic Media from the University of Colorado; she works as a Post Production manager creating content for the internet and performs collaboratively with the Andrea Maria Dance art Technology at the Joyce Soho. She is a founding member of Tram Theater, an experimental performance group based in Berlin; she has worked with Kathy Rose in mixed-media performances throughout Europe and the US, and her work has been exhibited in Germany, France and the US.

  • Anita Cheng People

    Anita Cheng holds an MFA in Dance from the University of Michigan; her choreography and media work has been presented in theaters, galleries, on DVD and the Internet. She received Experimental Television Center Grants (1998–1999) and Fulbright Grants for choreography to Hong Kong (1991) and to the Federal University of Rio De Janeiro (2007) to teach digital art and performance at the School of Communications (ECO). In collaboration with Ronaldo Kiel she held residencies at Dance Theater Workshop's Media Lab (2004) and the Rockefeller Foundation Bellagio Center (2005) and produced site-specific installations and commissions including Novel Lift (Brooklyn Public Library, 2005), Journey (Oi Futura, Oct 2007), Relay (Central Library, Feb 2008) and Remembered River (Connecticut College, Feb 2008).

  • Prema Murthy People

    Prema Murthy examines the shifting boundaries of a gendered and socially constructed body by remapping its surface through new technologies; she explores gender embodiment through performance, net-based installation, digital prints and sound. Her work has been shown at venues including The Clocktower Gallery-NY, The Gertrude Stein Repertory Theater-NY, Sandra Gering Gallery-NY, MIT-Cambridge, MA, The Alternative Museum-NY, The University of Iowa-IA and The Bianca Pilat Gallery-Milan, IT; she has collaborated with Floating Point Unit, The Electronic Disturbance Theater and Fakeshop. She has been awarded a New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship in Computer Arts and is currently an artist-in-residence at Harvestworks Digital Media Arts Center in New York; in the Fall 1999 she will present with Fakeshop the performance/installation multiple_dwelling at The Ars Electronica Festival.

  • Anabela Zigova People

    Anabela Zigova (born 1974, Bratislava, Slovakia; http://www.anabelazigova.net) lives in New York and makes work that moved from body-related objects, performance and video toward cinematic structures informed by writing and socio-political research. Her feature-length project was shown as a work in progress at Columbia University in 2006 and as a solo show in Paris; she presented it at the Transgression Conference at John Jay College, is a visiting scholar in the Sociology Department at the City University of New York, and holds an MFA from l'Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux Arts and an M.A. from the Academy of Music and Drama in Bratislava.
