Jennifer and Kevin McCoy

Jennifer and Kevin McCoy are new media artists. Their work plays upon the capacity of new technology to fragment, store, and analyze audio and video material. Resulting projects include installations, performances, and net art that explore ideas of genre, interactivity, and automation.

In New York City, their work has been exhibited at P.S.1, Postmasters Gallery, The New Museum, and The Swiss Institute. Commissioned projects include net art projects for The Walker Art Center, The Alternative Museum, and The Whitney Museum of American Art. International exhibitions include the ISEA festival in Manchester and screenings in Poland, Japan, Switzerland, France, Germany, and Holland.

In 2001 they received an award for New Media from the Colbert Foundation and in 1999 they received the New York Foundation for the Arts grant in computer arts. Articles about their work have appeared in Spin Magazine, Feed, and The Independent. Jennifer and Kevin McCoy live and work in New York City and received MFA degrees from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

In 1999 Jennifer and Kevin received a NYFA grant in computer arts, a Jerome grant through the Walker Arts Center, and were artists in residence at the Worldviews program at the World Trade Center and Harvestworks Media Center.     Jennifer Schmidt (b. 1975, Bedford, Indiana) is a multi-media artist based in Brooklyn, NY and Boston, MA who works in printed media and graphic design to create sculptural installations, video and screenprinted ephemera.     Jenny Hyde is a new media artist from the west and east coasts of the United States; she received a BFA from Cornish College of the Arts (Seattle, WA) in 1998 and an MFA from Alfred University (Alfred, New York) in 2006. Her work addresses physical experience, environment and questions of control; she uses video, digital cameras and scanners to produce digital constructions presented as prints on paper, video installation, projection and sound. She currently lives and works in Brooklyn, New York and lists www.jennyhyde.com.

  • Rebecca Dolan People

    Rebecca Dolan holds an MFA in Photography and Digital Imaging from Maryland Institute College of Art (1999) and a BFA from Colorado State University (1991); she is Assistant Professor in the Photography & New Media Department at Kansas City Art Institute. Her exhibitions include solo shows in Kansas City (2003 Field; 2004 White, working title) and screenings at the National Gallery Film Theatre (2002) and Goethe Institut (2001); her installations are multi-channel video works with dimensional sound, and her videography (1998–2001) includes collaborations with Patrick Wright. She maintains an ongoing online project at http://www.rebad.com/ and has received institutional awards including a 2002 Faculty Development Grant and a 1999 honorable mention at MICA.

  • Kristin Lucas People

    Kristin Lucas is a Brooklyn-based artist working with video/installation, performance and the world wide web; her work addresses automation and the psychological effects of rapid spread technology. Born 1968 in Davenport, Iowa, she holds a B.F.A. from The Cooper Union (1994) and has exhibited internationally since 1996 at venues including The New Museum, Postmasters, ICA Philadelphia, ZKM and the Guggenhiem and at festivals such as ISEA and VIPER. She has received grants and awards including the Colbert Foundation Award (2002, 2001), Rema Hort Mann Foundation Grant (1998) and Andrea Frank Foundation Grant (1999); she held residencies at P.S.1 National Studio Program and The Experimental Television Center and has video distribution through Electronic Arts Intermix and VTape.

  • Jillian McDonald People

    Jillian McDonald teaches art at Pace University in New York City and curates and co-directs the Pace Digital Gallery; her critical writing and curated projects focus on performative art in temporary or unexpected places, including the online exhibition Ebay: Buy or Sell or Buy. Her work has been shown at The Whitney Museum's Artport, Year Zero One (Toronto), La Biennale de Montréal and ISEA 2004 (Talinn), and recent solo/two-person shows include vertexList, TPW and YYZ. She has received grants from The Canada Council for the Arts, Soil New Media, Turbulence, The Gunk Foundation, NYSCA, The Experimental Television Center, Thirdplace.org and Pace University, and has lectured and held residencies at DAIMON, Sagamie, La Chambre Blanche, Em-Media and Harvestworks.

  • Wayne Ashley People

    Wayne Ashley is an independent new media creator, curator, and consultant who was curator of new media for Thundergulch at the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, organizing public programming on art and technology. He collaborated on House[raw], a three-year multidisciplinary online project, and curated an online exhibit for Nikelab.com. From 1999 to 2001 he was the first Manager of New Media at BAM, where he established the New Media Department and designed Arts in Multimedia (AIM) with Bell Labs; he produced and presented works and web documentaries, curated Under_score for BAM's Next Wave Down Under Festival 2001, and holds an MA and Ph.D. from New York University.
