Katherine Behar is an interdisciplinary artist based in New York City. Her installations, performances, and videos mix low and high technologies to portray the condition of living sensuously in digital media. Guided by the principle of placing Matter over Mind, Katherine tries to promote camaraderie with the physical armatures that uphold bits and bytes. Some of her most recent projects have been presented at venues including Unoactu in Dresden, the Chicago Cultural Center, De Balie Centre for Culture and Politics in Amsterdam, Interval in Manchester, the Digital Live Art Festival in Leeds, MoKS in Mooste, Estonia, The National Museum of Art in Cluj-Napoca, CANADA and PSi in New York, Conflux and the D.U.M.B.O. Art Under the Bridge Festival in Brooklyn, Alogon Gallery in Chicago and The Dorsch Gallery in Miami. Katherine has taught on the faculty of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and of Hunter College where she is currently pursuing an MFA in Combined Media.
