Phillippe Blanchard

After narrowly missing the cut for the Montreal Expos, Philippe studied film production and screenprinting at Concordia University. He then spent a few years traveling and working in the Middle East and Latin America, then returned to Montréal to make films on perpetual motion machines. He ultimately made his way to Toronto, taking a Visual Effects course at Seneca and starting at Head Gear in 2004.

In 2005, Philippe made "Taco Monde", his first foray into the realm of animated films about food. He is currently working on a sequel.

    French film theorist and videomaker Thierry Kuntzel (1948–2007), born in Bergerac, applied psychoanalytic and semiological theory to film and shifted to video in the late 1970s, producing works such as Nostos I (1979), Time Smoking a Picture (1980) and Le peintre cubiste (1981). His tapes employ a paluche, a miniature portable camera; he earned a doctorate at l'Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales, headed research divisions at ORTF and the Institut National de la Communication Audiovisuelle, and had a 1984 retrospective at the Centre Georges Pompidou.

  • Don Simmons People

    Don Simmons holds an MFA from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design; he completed a residency at the Banff Center and is on the faculty of the Alberta College of Art and Design in Calgary. His conceptual artworks take the form of robotics, electronics, audio, installation or performance, and have been shown in Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, Halifax and St. John's.

    Skip Battaglia is a filmmaker and animator whose films and animations have been honored in Japan, England, Germany, Canada, Netherlands, Portugal, Mexico and at Cannes; he travels internationally as a guest speaker and lecturer. In 1994-95 he received a Fulbright-Hays Teaching and Research Grant to teach film animation design and production at the Universidad de Guadalajara, Mexico; he holds an M.S. in Television-Radio from Syracuse University and a B.A. in English and Philosophy from Boston College, and has taught 16mm film production, animation, scriptwriting and aesthetic courses to undergraduate and graduate students at RIT since 1987.
