Rachael Greene

Before rejoining Rhizome.org in June 2002, Rachel wrote freelance and served on the boards of Rhizome.org and PARTICIPANT Inc. while developing television properties at Funny Garbage, a creative services firm in New York City. Prior to Funny Garbage, she worked at America Online while attending the Whitney Independent Study Program as a Helena Rubinstein Critical Studies Fellow.

Rachel was Editor at Rhizome.org from 1997 through 1999 and has written about art for publications including ArtForum, Frieze and Bomb. She was educated at the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Sussex. Rachel's book on Internet Art from Thames & Hudson will be out in early 2004.

    Lauren Cornell is Executive Director of Rhizome and oversees the organization's programs to promote and contextualize new media art. She started with Rhizome in May 2005. Previously she worked as a curator, writer and arts administrator in New York, including on the Andy Warhol Film Project at the Whitney Museum and as Executive Director of Ocularis from 2002–2004; she also worked as a youth media educator and organizer, has been published in international and online art outlets, and has curated screenings, exhibitions and performances at venues in New York, London and Warsaw.

    Dara Greenwald is an interdisciplinary artist with an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a BA from Oberlin College; she taught part-time at SAIC Film/Video/New Media (2003–2005), was Distribution Manager at the Video Data Bank (1998–2005) and pursued an MFA at RPI in 2007. Her practice is experimental and socially engaged, influenced by punk DIY and anarchist mutual-aid values; she co-founded the tactical media group Pink Bloque. Her single-channel videos have screened internationally and her writing appeared in outlets including Clamor and the Journal of Aesthetics & Protest.

  • Melinda Rackham People

    Melinda Rackham is an artist and writer based in Sydney, Australia; she has worked online since the mid 1990s from the domain www.subtle.net, creating imaginal and hypertextual sites that explore online identity, locality, sexuality, community, viral symbiosis and trans species relations. She is undertaking a Phd in Virtual Media at College of Fine Arts, University of New South Wales; her writing has appeared in Ctheory, Culture Machine, Leonardo and Realtime, and she has presented at Contagion (Australia), Invencao (Brazil) and Consciousness Reframed (Wales). She has held residencies at Polar Circuit (Finland) and Discovery at Banff Center for the Arts (Canada); her award-winning web works have been included in Beyond Interface, Arco Electronico, Perspecta, Transmediale, File, Art Entertainment Network, The Montreal Biennale, European Media Art Festival and ISEA.

  • Cynthia Lovett People

    Cynthia Lovett received an MPS from the Tisch School of the Arts - Interactive Telecommunications Program at New York University (2001) and an MFA from Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia (1996); she participated in residencies including the PS1 International Studio Program and the Harvestworks New Works Residency (1998). She has exhibited video and installation works at The Sculpture Center, Brooklyn Museum of Art, Momenta Art (Brooklyn), and the Galleries at Moore College of Art in Philadelphia; she was a Lower Manhattan Cultural Council Swing Space Artist and an artist in residence at the Rotunda Gallery/BCAT Multimedia Residency (2005-06) and the Experimental Television Center (2006).   • Carolyn Tennant People

    Carolyn Tennant holds an MFA from SUNY at Buffalo and a BA (1997) from Hampshire College; additional studies include Squeaky Wheel (2003), Visual Studies Workshop (2002), Mount Holyoke (1993–95), Cornell (1993–94) and the Salt Center for Documentary Field Studies (1994). Since 6/2002 she has been affiliated with the Experimental Television Center (Newark Valley, NY) and from 1/2002 served as Research Assistant for Dr. Zimmermann at Ithaca College, performing copy editing and administrative work. Her Chicago employment included office-manager and receptionist roles; her productions include Fenceline, The Last Hand Loader, Rulloff's Brain, Mazamorreo (recipient of a $10,000 Ill. Humanities Council grant), and the multi-media You Don't Feed Me.
