Annetta Marion, Michelle Chen and Christine Simpson People

Annetta Marion is an award-winning filmmaker in New York City; she is a director, line producer and Artistic Director of Independent Pictures. Her films include A Wise Decision, winner of a national award from the American Federation of Teachers, and Donut Heaven (Super 16mm, shot July 2004 in Florida). She was accepted into the American Film Institute's Directing Workshop for Women; her producing credits include Eric Schaeffer's Never Again; she has been nominated for the Northern Ohio Live Awards of Achievement in Film/Radio/TV and the Working Woman Entrepreneurial Excellence Award.

Anney Bonney People

Anney Bonney, born in Columbus, Ohio, was educated at Wellesley, SVA, Pratt and the New York School of Holography. After living in Hawaii she settled in New York and exhibited from the late 1970s in clubs and institutions; she received a NYSCA film grant for Pygmalion Alien (1980). She worked at BOMB magazine, co-founded Antenna, TV, served as Performance/Video Curator and Media Director at The Kitchen (1995–1999), collaborated on Moon Charms (premiered 1997; Houston prize; selected by Time Warner) and taught at SUNY Purchase.

Annie Langan People

Annie Langan was born and raised in Louisville, KY; she holds a BFA from Atlanta College of Art and studied at Rhode Island School of Design. She served as instructor and assistant to the Director of the International Student Residency, a program of Alfred University and the Experimental Television Center, and taught photography at Chance School (KY). Her work has been exhibited at Momus Gallery (GA), Temple University, University of Buffalo, Swanson-Cralle Gallery (KY), Gallery 100 (GA) and Sun Trust Plaza Gallery (GA); she is nationally represented by Momus Gallery in Atlanta and, with Monica Duncan, cofounded Arts Electronic, a video and digital print residency program in Louisville, Kentucky (http://www.annielangan.com).

Annmarie Lanesey People

Annmarie Lanesey is an artist working primarily with video installation and video performance; her work has been shown internationally at galleries, new media festivals and contemporary art venues including the Institute of Contemporary Art in London, Museo de Arte Moderno in Buenos Aries, Argentina, The Center for Contemporary Art in Tel Aviv, Israel, and the 11th International Media Art Biennale in Wroclaw, Poland. She returned to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute as an adjunct faculty member in the Art Department, having received a BS in Electronic Media Art and Communication in 2001 and an MFA in Electronic Art in 2004; her website is www.toxicvideolove.com and she received a Finishing Funds 2007 award from the Experimental Television Center.

Takahiko Iimura, active in experimental cinema since 1960 and video art since 1970, discusses two interrelated video works on identity produced in 1994 and 1996: AIUEONN Six Features and Performance: A I U E O NN Six Features. He details earlier works Self Identity (1972–74), Double Identities (1979) and the film 24 Frames Per Second (1975–78), describes use of computer-based image distortion (Sony System G) and bilingual visual material (hiragana and Roman alphabet), and notes presentation at the Frequencies seminar at SOAS, University of London (November 1996) and publication in the Lux catalogue (London Filmmakers' Co-op, 1998); assistance was provided by Sony Corporation and Sony PCL Inc., Tokyo.

Anthology Film Archives Groups

Anthology Film Archives opened at the end of 1970 (manifesto dated December 1, 1970) and originated from initiatives by Jonas Mekas and a 1969 plan involving Jerome Hill, P. Adams Sitney, Peter Kubelka and Stan Brakhage; a Film Selection Committee was formed to assemble the Essential Cinema Repertory. It first screened at Joseph Papp's Public Theater, relocated to 80 Wooster Street, and in 1979 acquired Manhattan's Second Avenue Courthouse, adapted by Raimund Abraham and Kevin Bone to house theaters, a reference library and a preservation department. An Independent Film Preservation program established in 1972 has preserved hundreds of films and the Archives holds more than 4,000 titles; Anthology has published works including Film Culture Reader.

1983 Anthology Film Archives Chronology

Anthology Film Archives initiated a video preservation project in 1983 with pilot funding from the New York State Council on the Arts; the project aimed to identify and locate independent video-makers in the United States, borrow and rerecord video works endangered by age or format obsolescence, and preserve the re-recordings under specified temperature/humidity conditions. As of August 1983 work was underway in all three areas; the next issue of Video Texts will present a report on the project's first year.

1986 Anthology Film Archives Chronology

Anton Marini (Aka Vade) is a New York based video engineer and new media programmer specializing in video and 3D systems for post production, visual effects and realtime systems; his work includes designing software environments and systems for realtime performance and aesthetics for abstract visual communication. Antonio Muntadas People

Antoni Muntadas (born Barcelona, 1942) has lived and worked in New York since 1971; his practice examines social, political and communications issues and the relationship between public and private space through photography, video, publications, internet and installations. He studied in Barcelona and at the Pratt Graphic Center in New York and has taught seminars at institutions including UC San Diego and CAVS at MIT. He received grants and prizes from Guggenheim, Rockefeller and National Endowment for the Arts and has been commissioned and exhibited internationally, including Venice Biennale, Documenta Vl and X and MoMA.
