Steve Bradley - NOMADS

Nomads was founded by a group of artists, curators and arts administrators dedicated to exploring the cross-section of art and technology. They view the Web as a vital mechanism for the collective creation and dissemination of work by artists, for artists. Steve Bradley's art practice involves sound performance, time-based media and material culture. He explores the boundaries of urban and suburban culture by collecting debris from the consumed landscape.

His work has been exhibited at the Washington Center for Photography, and Pulse Art. He has curated art@radio, a net.radio broadcast of sound art and experimental music. He has been artist in residence at Communication Front (Bulgaria). He has performed at international festivals and is presently professor of visual art at the University of Maryland.

Laura McGough is a curator, critic and media artist and co-director of NOMADS; since 1990 she has organized exhibitions internationally, published on new media, contributed to Inuit Media from Igloolik (forthcoming 1999), lectured across the US and Canada, is Multidisciplinary Specialist at the National Endowment for the Arts, and has been artist in residence at the Tariagsuk Video Centre in Igloolik and taught at the University of Maryland.

    Timothy Nohe is an artist and educator working with traditional and electronic media in daily life and public places; his recent work includes Intermedia works, sound scores for dance, improvisational concert works, and sustainability-focused art. He is a member of the International Corporation of Lost Structures (Sydney) and the Center for Land Use Interpretation (Los Angeles), an Associate of the Centre for Media Arts Innovation at the University of Technology Sydney, and a member of SEAMUS, EMF, ISEA, and CAA.     Steve Dietz is Director of the ISEA 2006 Symposium and ZeroOne San Jose: A Global Festival of Art on the Edge, taking place in August 2006 in San Jose, California; he is based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In 2005 he co-curated Database Imaginary at the Walter Phillips Gallery, Banff, Canada, where he is curatorial fellow; he curated the web projects for the exhibition Making Things Public at ZKM, Karlsruhe, curated by Bruno Latour and Peter Weibel; with Sarah Cook he co-curated The Art Formerly Known as New Media, which opened at the Walter Philips Gallery in September 2005; website www.yproductions.com.

  • Patrick Lichty People

    Patrick Lichty (US) is a technologically-based conceptual artist, writer, independent curator, animator for the activist group The Yes Men, and Executive Editor of Intelligent Agent Magazine; he began showing technological media art in 1989 and explores the social relations between us and media. His solo and collaborative works have appeared at the Whitney & Turin Biennials, Maribor Triennial, Performa Performance Biennial, Ars Electronica and the International Symposium on the Electronic Arts (ISEA); he works extensively with virtual worlds including Second Life and his work with the performance art group Second Front has been featured in Flash Art, Eikon Milan and ArtNews. He is Assistant Professor of Interactive Arts & Media at Columbia College Chicago and resides in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

  • Wayne Ashley People

    Wayne Ashley is an independent new media creator, curator, and consultant who was curator of new media for Thundergulch at the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, organizing public programming on art and technology. He collaborated on House[raw], a three-year multidisciplinary online project, and curated an online exhibit for Nikelab.com. From 1999 to 2001 he was the first Manager of New Media at BAM, where he established the New Media Department and designed Arts in Multimedia (AIM) with Bell Labs; he produced and presented works and web documentaries, curated Under_score for BAM's Next Wave Down Under Festival 2001, and holds an MA and Ph.D. from New York University.
