Lee Wells

Lee Wells is an artist, exhibition organizer and consultant currently living and working New York. His artwork primarily questions systems of power and control and has been exhibited internationally including the 51st La Biennale Di Venezia, Contemporary Arts Center in Cincinnati and the Museo d'arte Moderna e Contemporanea di Trento e Rovereto. He is a co-founder and director of IFAC-arts, www.ifac-arts.org, an alternative exhibition and installation program for artists and curators.

His artwork, projects and exhibitions have been written about by various national and international art and news publications to include: The New York Times, Art Newspaper, The Washington Post, Art in America, and Art Net. Wells is currently a curator at large and Cinema-Scope director for Scope Art Fairs www.scope-art.com and is a site editor for www.rhizome.org. http://www.leewells.org

    Michele Thursz is an independent curator and director of Post Media Network; in 1999 she co-founded and directed Moving Image Gallery, NYC.   • Zhang Ga People

    Zhang Ga is a media artist and co-director of agent.netart who has exhibited internationally and who has curated exhibitions, organized conferences and digital salons. He initiated and directs the Millennium Dialogue: Beijing International New Media Arts Exhibition and Symposium and served on the curatorial committee of ISEA2006. He has taught at Parsons, joined the New York Institute of Technology as associate professor of communication arts, and studied at the Central School of Fine Arts in Beijing and the University of Arts in Berlin (UDK), holding an MFA from Parsons School of Design.

  • Steve Dietz People

    Steve Dietz is Director of the ISEA 2006 Symposium and ZeroOne San Jose: A Global Festival of Art on the Edge, taking place in August 2006 in San Jose, California; he is based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In 2005 he co-curated Database Imaginary at the Walter Phillips Gallery, Banff, Canada, where he is curatorial fellow; he curated the web projects for the exhibition Making Things Public at ZKM, Karlsruhe, curated by Bruno Latour and Peter Weibel; with Sarah Cook he co-curated The Art Formerly Known as New Media, which opened at the Walter Philips Gallery in September 2005; website www.yproductions.com.

  • Patrick Lichty People

    Patrick Lichty (US) is a technologically-based conceptual artist, writer, independent curator, animator for the activist group The Yes Men, and Executive Editor of Intelligent Agent Magazine; he began showing technological media art in 1989 and explores the social relations between us and media. His solo and collaborative works have appeared at the Whitney & Turin Biennials, Maribor Triennial, Performa Performance Biennial, Ars Electronica and the International Symposium on the Electronic Arts (ISEA); he works extensively with virtual worlds including Second Life and his work with the performance art group Second Front has been featured in Flash Art, Eikon Milan and ArtNews. He is Assistant Professor of Interactive Arts & Media at Columbia College Chicago and resides in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

  • Caitlin Jones People

    Caitlin Jones holds a combined research position in the Curatorial and Conservation departments at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum; in collaboration with the Daniel Langlois Foundation for Art, Science, and Technology and the Variable Media Network she co-edited Permanence Through Change: The Variable Media Approach and co-curated Seeing Double: Emulation in Theory and Practice at the Guggenheim. She was curatorial assistant for the Deutsche Guggenheim Berlin exhibition Nam June Paik: Global Groove 2004; her writing on variable media preservation and presentation has appeared in a wide range of international publications. Her most recent article, My Art World is Bigger than Your Art World, appears in the December/January issue of The Believer.

  • Fereshteh Toosi People

    Fereshteh Toosi is an interdisciplinary artist who works in video, sound, performance and public intervention; her work has been shown at Groupe Intervention Vidéo (Montréal), Art in General (New York) and Transformer Gallery (Washington DC). She received grants from the New York State Council on the Arts and the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts. She holds a BA from Oberlin College and an MFA from Carnegie Mellon University's School of Art and joined the NMS faculty in 2008; www.fereshteh.net.
