Jennifer Hamilton People

Jennifer Hamilton holds an MFA from Concordia University and is presently teaching in the Department of Visual Arts at the University of Regina; she received awards from the Canada Council and Concordia University and participated in residencies at the Banff Center. Jennifer Reeder People

Jennifer Reeder is a movie maker and visual artist who produced the short-video trilogy Steys Like This and the feature Tiny Plastic Rainbow. She is completing The Closer Stockholm, to be written in Stockholm, shot in Chicago and edited at the Wexner Center in Columbus; release is planned for early 2004 with an accompanying web-based project. Her work has screened internationally; she received an MFA in 1996 from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and lives in Chicago where she is Assistant Professor in the School of Art and Design at the University of Illinois.

Jennifer Reeves People

Jennifer Reeves is a New York filmmaker who made about thirteen short films and one feature; she was a Jacob Javits fellow (1998–2000) at UC San Diego. Her debut feature The Time We Killed is a cine-poem companion to Chronic about Robyn (Lisa Jarnot), an agoraphobic poet in Brooklyn; Reeves shot apartment scenes in uninflected DV and assembled memory montages from high-contrast 16mm. She received a Finishing Funds award from the Experimental Television Center for WHEN IT WAS BLUE, which was exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art.

Jennifer Schmidt (b. 1975, Bedford, Indiana) is a multi-media artist based in Brooklyn, NY and Boston, MA who works in printed media and graphic design to create sculptural installations, video and screenprinted ephemera. She earned an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (1999) and BAs in Studio Art and Art History from the University of Delaware (1997). Her work has screened and been exhibited internationally, including Pulsar (Caracas) and Cinema-Scope (London and Miami); publications include Collezioni:Edge, Eleven Bulls, Big Red and Shiny and Drain Journal.

Jenny Hyde People

Jenny Hyde is a new media artist from the west and east coasts of the United States; she received a BFA from Cornish College of the Arts (Seattle, WA) in 1998 and an MFA from Alfred University (Alfred, New York) in 2006. Her work addresses physical experience, environment and questions of control; she uses video, digital cameras and scanners to produce digital constructions presented as prints on paper, video installation, projection and sound. Jeremy Slater People

Jeremy D. Slater is a sound artist who also works with video and sound in performance and installation settings; he uses his laptop computer to create sound, image, and interactive work. Jeremy Xido People

Jeremy Xido, originally from Detroit, graduated cum laude in Painting and Comparative Literature from Columbia University and trained at the Actor's Studio and with dance and capoeira masters; he received a 2000 Fulbright to develop Cabula6 in Barcelona and was Artist-in-Residence at General Eléctrica, where he created The Love Project and Eixam. With Claudia Heu he created the audio-tour/theater Trace (2003), which premiered internationally and won the Sommerszene Audience Award; he produced six APAP documentary films, mounted On Earth on a Santiago bus in February 2007, and has film and TV credits including The Machinist.

Jesse Lerner People

Jesse Lerner is a documentary film and video maker based in Los Angeles; his short films T.S.H. (2004) and Natives (1991, with Scott Sterling) and the feature experimental documentaries Frontierland (1995, with Rubén Ortiz), Ruins (1999), and The American Egypt (2001) have won prizes at film festivals in the United States, Latin America, and Japan. He is an Associate Professor in the Intercollegiate Media Studies Program of the Claremont Colleges.

Jessica Rylan People

Jessica Rylan is a Boston-area sound artist and electronic musician whose work focuses on the design and construction of modular synthesizers using analog electronic circuits; she uses these instruments in gallery installations and high-energy live performances. She performs extensively throughout New England and has undertaken national tours reaching Seattle and San Francisco; she has performed live on radio and was featured in a PBS documentary in March 2003. She has created installations for the LIST Gallery for Visual Arts at MIT, the Boston Center for Contemporary Art, Bard College, the Berwick Research Institute and the Massachusetts College of Art; she holds an MFA in electronic music from Bard College, Avondale-on-Hudson, New York and has received grants from the Penny McCall Foundation and the LEF Foundation.

Jill Johnston-Price People

Jill Johnston-Price is an artist and educator from Fredonia, New York; her animations have screened at international festivals in numerous countries, including Australia, Canada and New Zealand, and at national festivals and exhibitions. With a background in cinematography and painting, she explores ecological systems of self-sustainment and bizarre interactions in nature, folklore and animal welfare; she has received several festival awards, a Maryland Area Media Arts Fellowship and various SUNY grants, and is Assistant Professor in the Animation/Illustration Program at SUNY Fredonia.

Jill Magid People

Jill Magid was a resident artist at the Rijksakademie in Amsterdam in 2002 and is a resident artist at Eyebeam in New York City; she is a visiting artist at Cooper Union and a lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania. Her solo exhibition Libration Point was shown at the Stedelijk Museum Bureau Amsterdam (2005); her work has appeared internationally, including Liverpool Tate during the Liverpool Biennial International '04. She won a commission from the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council to produce the video L-O-V-E and resides in Brooklyn and Amsterdam.

Jim de Seve is an award-winning documentary producer and director; his film Tying the Knot premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival and was released theatrically in 2004 by Roadside Attractions, winning the $10,000 Grand Prize Best Doc at the 2004 Frameline Film Festival. Based in Troy, NY, he has produced work for broadcasters and cultural institutions and his films have been broadcast internationally; his filmography includes Burying the Saints and Seeds, he has lectured at NYU and received grants from the Jerome Foundation and other arts organizations.

James Duesing is a Pittsburgh-based filmmaker and an Associate Professor at Carnegie Mellon University; he has produced film and video with live action and animation and has made computer animations since 1987 after buying a computer in 1986. His work is held by MoMA (New York) and the UCLA Film Archive; his awards include Prix Ars Electronica (Linz, Austria), an AFI Independent Filmmaker Fellowship and an NEA grant. His work has been exhibited at festivals and venues including Sundance and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Jim Finn People

Jim Finn (b. St. Louis, 1968) is an artist whose films and videos use humor and historical fiction to examine communist ideology, capitalism and revolutionary art practices; he is noted for his feeling for irony and for shaping new work from propaganda, news and historic images. His work has screened at festivals and institutions including Rotterdam International, New York Underground, Edinburgh International, Museo Reina Sofia in Madrid and the Harvard Film Archive; he is producing a series of feature-length films on Marxist ideology, the first being Interkosmos. Variety called his follow-up La Trinchera Luminosa del Presidente Gonzalo pure filmmaking legerdemain and called the performances astonishing; his film The Juche Idea, about a North Korean art residency, will premiere in 2008; http://www.jimfinn.org.

Jim Hubbard People

Jim Hubbard is a filmmaker who began making films in 1975 and has focused on film and video preservation; in 1987 he co-founded the New York Lesbian and Gay Experimental Film Festival. From 1991 to 1996 he worked at Anthology Film Archives and, with the American Film Institute National Moving Image Database project, created the first computer catalog of Anthology's collection of over 5,000 titles. Under a Jerome Foundation grant he inventoried and catalogued the Jerome Hill Collection; he researched archival storage needs for work by makers with AIDS for Media Network and authored Meeting the Challenges of Video Preservation with Mona Jimenez for Media Alliance, and continues to work with IMAP.

Jim Lindner People

Jim Lindner, President of VidiPax, has 30 years of experience in audio and video production and preservation of magnetic media; in 1991 the Andy Warhol Foundation asked him to help play back videotapes Warhol recorded in the 1970s, and he spent the next two years developing techniques to save the disintegrating collection. He founded VidiPax to share preservation knowledge and assist endangered libraries and archives; he received awards including the Anthology Film Archives Preservation Award and has published articles and given seminars at professional associations, universities, and museums. In spring 1996 Lindner testified as a key witness and panel member before the Library of Congress concerning the growing crisis facing magnetic tape.
